RECONSTRUCTION OF RAMGARHIA DARWAJA                                                                                                        (KNOWN AS CHATTIWIND GATE), AMRITSAR.

In 1747 at a Sikh congregation of Dal Khalsa, It was decided to build a FORT for the protection of Sri Harmandir Sahib and Sri Amritsar City from Mughal Invaders. Its responsibility was taken by M. Jassa Singh Ramgarhia with                      his supporters. First of all they built a small mudd Fortress on the easter side of the city and named it as RAM RAUNI after the name of Sri Guru Ram Dass ji. It can house at least 500 horse riding fighters with their arms and with other necessary materials. It became a sign of Sikh sovreignity and a chellenge to Mughal Rule. Every Mughal invader or ruler started to attack it and to detroy it. Every time Sikh forces in the command of M. Jassa Singh Ramgarhia resisted it with their full might and rebuilt it as a big and PAKKA FORT (with baked bricks) and named it as RAMGARH FORT. Due to continuous building and protection of this Fort, Sri Harmandir Sahib and Amritsar City under the able command of M. JASSA SINGH RAMGARHIA, as a honor, M. JASSA SINGH WAS BEING CALLED AS RAMGARHIA i.e. of RAMGARH KILE WALA OR AS RAMGARHIA SARDAR.

Similarly, in the old times, a high & wide WALL was also built around the Amritsar city for its protction from the Invaders. 12 entry GATES were also built with different names and one of it was RAMGARHIA DARWAJA near the RAMGARH FORT. Now neither RAMGARH FORT nor RAMGARHIA DARWAJA exists because at the place of Ramgarh Frot now exist GURDWARA BABA DEEP SINGH SHAHEED and Ramgarhia Darwaja is being called as CHATTIWIND GATE. This way both the HERITAGES of Ramgarhia’s are non-existant which is a matter of serious concern for the Sikh History. Because our present and coming generations will remain unknown about their glorious past and will not get any inspiration from it.

Keeping in view of this serious negligence and shortcoming of our people, ALL INDIA S. JASSA SINGH RAMGARHIA FEDERATION (REGD.), AMRITSAR, as per its MOTTO to rebuild our lost HERITAGE and make known of our HISTORY to our all Brethern we are distributing FREE OF COST books and other printed materials on the LIFE HISTORY OF M. JASSA SINGH RAMGARHIA AND OTHER SARDARS and to rebuild the RAMGARHIA DARWAJA at its origional place i.e. at Chattiwind Gate, Amritsar. The construction of the Darwaja is already in PROGRESS with the help of our all Ramgarhia Brethern. It will have 15’ dia pillers of 50’ height and total width of 62’. The estimated cost of this project will be about 35 to 40 Lacs. At present 1/3 work has been completed and the rest is continuing but we seek the cooperation and generous CONTRIBUTIONS from our all BRETHERNS to HELP US TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT as early as possible. You can make your contributions in the form of BUILDING MATERIALS OR MONEY BY CHEQUES/DRAFTS ETC. As per details given below :
