RED FORT (LAL QILA), DELHI AND CORONATION SLAB OF MUGHAL’S
In 1546 Islam Shah Soori, built a Fort named SALIMGARH, on the bank of the Jamuna River near present Delhi city. But in 1638, Empror Shahjahan started building another Fort and he also inclueded the Salimgarh in it. The construction of this big fort completed in 1648 and he named it as a QILA-A-MUBARK. At that time Delhi was also named as SHAHJANABAD. Since this Fort was decorated with RED STONES, hence it was got the name of RED FORT (LAL QILA) and till now it is known with this name. Shahjahan made all types of luxeries and important buildings in this Fort such as Diwan-e-Khas, Dewan-e-Aam, Rang Mahal & Meena Bazar etc. After Shahjahan, Aurangjeb added Moti Masjid and other buildings in it. In 1739, Nadirshah attacked India and captured Delhi & Lal Qila etc. While making all types of loot and distroying the city and damaging the Lal Qila, he took away the Mughal’s throne i.e. Pe-Cock type Takht-e-tauos with him. In 1771, Shah Alam became the ruler of Delhi, but he was a very weak King with the weak economy of his Empire.
Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia & other Sikh Misls took advantage of this situation of the Mughal ruler and attacked Delhi & Lal Qila and captured it. Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia hoisted the Khalsa Nishan Sahib on the Lal-Qila on 11th March, 1783. Some body told M. Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, that there is a specially prepared STONE PLATE OR SLAB of size 5’-3” x 3’-6” x 9” & made pious with the Holy Quran Quotes. This Stone Plate also contains many valueable pearls & gems and Takht-e-tauos was placed on it. Every THRONE CORONATION CELEBRATION was done on this plate and no Coronation is done without it. Therefore this Stone Plate is very important for any Throne Coronation Ceremony of the Mughal Rulers. Moreover all orders to give Death Sentences to Sikh Guru such as Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji, and Sikhs like Bhai Mati Dass, Bhai Sati Dass, Bhai Dyala ji etc. were given from this Stone Plate. After knowing the historical importance of this Plate, M. Jassa Singh Ramgarhia decided to take away it with him so that no further Coronation of any Mughal Ruler may take place and thus Mughal Rule should end for ever. So he brought the Mughal’s CORONATION STONE PLATE and other many items with him at AMRITSAR. He placed the the STONE PLATE at RAMGARHIA BUNGA, in the parikarma of HARMANDIR SAHIB as a sign of VICTORY over Delhi, Lal Qila and Mughal Empire. Thus took a revenge of all Mughal ruler’s misdeeds on the all Sikhs and Sikh Gurus. Now it is our duty to take care of our this proud and hard earned HISTORY & HERITAGE and to propagate it to our coming generations.
